Marc Geladi
How would you best describe your job?
As a Branch Operations Manager, I am responsible for all operational aspects including distribution, customer service, administration, and HR. Daily, I lead the 14-member internal team to ensure that communication and tasks between the different departments (= Sales and Operations) run as smoothly and accurately as possible.
So what does this actually entail: when a customer expresses his or her wishes and needs in the initial phase with the respective sales colleague, we assess together with the sales colleague the feasibility of the request. This may involve the stability of the ground at the location, which materials are best used, etc.
What qualifications do you think are necessary to perform the job well?
Experience and passion are the most important qualities of my job, as I have spent considerable time on the shop floor, allowing me to create a very realistic picture of what is possible.
From my own experience, what is theoretical is not always feasible. Because I have worked on the shop floor myself, I know where the difference can be made.
- Having experience on the shop floor
- Being strong administratively and communicatively
- Excellent organizational skills
- Result-driven and having a customer-oriented approach
What makes your workday a perfect/successful day?
A successful day means to me when my colleagues can go home with a smile and all realistic objectives have been achieved.
For me, there is nothing more pleasant than working in an office where everyone feels at home.
How would your colleagues describe you?
I am described as someone who is very social and helpful; I like to roll up my sleeves for my colleagues. As the saying implies: “Teamwork Makes The Dream Work”.
It is extremely important to have a well-functioning team where everyone believes in themselves first and also in the other team members. This trust in each other and in oneself is very important for achieving the best team performance.
What tip would you like to give to the reader?
“Can’t do, doesn’t exist.” Everything is possible as long as you maintain the right mindset. It is important to set achievable goals for yourself. With the correct attitude and the necessary dose of courage and willpower, no goal is unrealistic. Believe in yourself first, then others will believe in you too.
What does Algeco mean to you?
In the meantime, I have accumulated a whole work history at Algeco Belgium and I would not trade my current position for anything. A place where you enjoy your job brings perfection into play.
Algeco Belgium is an excellent employer that places great importance on the mental well-being of its employees.
