At Algeco, we believe that behind every successful project stands a strong team.
And when you walk into the Project Office, there's a good chance you'll run into Katrien Wynen. A technical draftsman with a passion for modular constructions and a young mom of a playful and cheerful five-year-old daughter (almost 6).

Besides her work, Katrien is always up for a party. Whether it's Regi at the Sportpaleis or a fun team-building event with colleagues, she doesn't miss an opportunity to enjoy.

Who is Katrien?

Katrien is an enthusiastic, creative jack-of-all-trades who works with great pleasure within the Project Office under the leadership of Joris Billen. Besides her job as a technical draftsman, she is a true family person.

In her free time, she often goes out with her family to the sea or to various amusement parks. Additionally, she is always up for a fun activity with colleagues – whether it's darts, bowling, or just going out for a nice meal.

How would you describe your role as a technical draftsman in modular construction?

“My job revolves around translating customer requests into clear and accurate drawings. I do this for both the rental market and for projects within the new sales department.

I ensure that all specifications are correct, so that our modular constructions perfectly meet the wishes and needs of the customer. It’s a challenge, but that’s what makes it so exciting!”

What qualifications do you think are necessary to perform the job well?

A good technical insight is, of course, a must, as well as an eye for detail. In addition, you should be able to work structured and smoothly switch between different projects.

Customer-oriented thinking and collaborating with colleagues is also very important, because a good design starts with a strong communication.

What do you like most about your job?

“The variation! No two days are the same. Each project is unique, and that keeps me constantly challenged. I collaborate with different departments such as sales, operations, and clients, which gives me new insights all the time.

Moreover, it is incredibly satisfying to develop a design and then see it come to life on a construction site.”

What makes your workday perfect/successful?

“A workday is successful for me when I can complete a project without any issues and the client or my sales colleague, who often acts as an intermediary, is satisfied with the result.

But honestly? A day where I can also laugh and have fun with colleagues really completes it!”

How would your colleagues describe you?

“Probably as social, enthusiastic, and helpful. I am always up for a nice chat, but also ready to help when someone needs it.

And let's be honest, as the only woman among all those men in the Project Office, I've learned to hold my own. Luckily, I do that with a big smile and a healthy dose of humor!”
